| My thoughts first and then a nice write up on the install. I chose Black Rhino's Pre Runner Front Bumper and here's why. I've cruised the web looking at a bunch of different front ends that could take punishment I dish out. Black Rhino's Pre-Runner bumper has a great approach that doesn't take away from the ability to push right up on any incline whether it be rocks, dirt, or even a large bolder. I am a big fan of their solid aluminum protection plate. Another big plus to this front end is the fact that the Black Rhino Performance logo cut out is high enough where you won't get a stick jamming through it, but yet it is positioned perfectly to let that healthy flow of air pass right through. Now on to the construction...the 1 ½" construction throughout, and the ¼" 5052 aluminum bash plate look really solid! Need I say more? Sure...surprisingly this combination appears to be heavy, but it is not I can carry it with one arm. Next, I had to inspect the welds for quality quality and every weld had good wet-out and was tied-in at the toes of the weld, and the beads have a very consistent appearance. Upon further inspection the welds are well balanced around the root of the joints and after this first look it just confirmed my decision to go with Black Rhino Performance Pre-Runner Front End. Lastly, the Rhino comes stock with...well what I think are underwhelming head lights, the Pre-Runner Front Bumper is ready to be outfitted with four, yes four off-road lights. When I save up enough money I will be mounting the four PIA lights on the grill of this dude! My belief is that you can never have to much light! Well I finally installed it. It took me about 20 minutes. I say 20 minutes because I had a friend stop by and my kids were all over the Rhino. Black Rhino Performance did an awesome job of lining things up. I only had to give it a One Bad Rhino nudge once or twice to get the bolts to thread into place. Tools needed 11/16 Socket 9/16 Socket 5/16 Socket You can use a 3/8 inch drive if you want or a 1/2 inch drive. I chose to use both. For the 11/16 Socket I used a 1/2 inch driven and for the 9/16 and the 5/16 inch socket I used a 3/8 inch drive. The main bolt at the base take a 11/16 socket and backed out pretty easily. The upper bolts used a 9/16 socket and you can access it from the front or lift the hood. I found either way to be just as easy. The bolts on the skid plate use a 5/16 socket and are located right on the front of the bumper. After I removed all the bolts I had one small question on what to do with the front skid plate portion that use to connect to the stock bumper. After lining up the BRP Pre-Runner bumper I figured out that you can just place it behind the bumper. It fits perfectly in between the bumper and the frame and I don't see it pulling out. OK, next I placed the bumper into place and then I used my fingers to screw the main lower bolts into place and the the uppers. I then leaned against the bumper to get the upper mounts to seat flush against the frame. I then tightened the upper bolts (9/16) and called them done. I then tightened the lower bolts (11/16) and called them done. With it all said and done, I do have to say this was a very easy install and it could be done in about 10 minutes if you have all the tools ready and the time dedicated without interruptions none would even know you were gone. One other note is that if you wanted to install this Pre-Runner Bumper while you were on an outing it would be no problem. What I mean by this is if you got the bumper and through it in just before you left for a on trip you could install it at a rest stop or at your camp. To Black Rhino...Thanks for the Bumper and I know your products are performance based and will stand up to tons of abuse. I plan to abuse it so be ready for some photo so be sure to check my photo section. On the left you can see the final product and if you are wondering about the square opening in the middle, its for a winch and they have done a great job of preparing it for a nice fairlead and winch to be mounted. 4000 pound winch here I come. Bottom line: Solid well made Pre-Runner bumper very easy to install and ready for the trail. Nice clean welds and sweet powder coat job makes this a nice addition to your Rhino and great mod for added protection. You get what you pay for! I can't wait to add a nice set of PIA lights to finish it off. I hope this will help you in your decision and Black Rhino won't let you down!
